Maisey & Pearl

It is with great joy that I share my experience with Animal Rescue Squad International. (ARSI)  About the middle of March, 2022 I began to search dog rescues locally in the hope of finding a dog that was not too big, but big enough to run with me. We were also looking for a dog that would get along with our two cats. I put in various applications to local dog rescues and did not receive a single response.

On Petfinder I discovered a dog that I was interested in and the path led to a rescue in Taiwan. I had never thought of adopting a dog internationally. Unfortunately, I filled out an application for the dog and once again did not receive a response. Then it occurred to me to ask a friend where she had rescued her dog and low and behold it had come from Taiwan through Animal Rescue Squad International.

I went to their website and quickly decided on two possibilities, Boona (Maisey) and Panda. I filled out an application and Nikki actually responded within a few days! We set up a zoom call and talked about the process. From the very beginning I realized that Nikki was highly invested in making sure that the right people adopted the right dogs. She asked me a series of questions and then we talked about the dogs. I had a few questions for her and she told me she would call the foster parents in Taiwan for the answers. I expected her to get back to me in a few days but a couple of hours later I received a text from her with the answers.

I was concerned that Boona, having had an accident with a car and a broken leg, might not be able to run with me. Nikki was able to have the foster parents take a video of her running around a park. I was sold! I told Nikki I wanted to adopt Boona and she had me fill out the contract. She then explained that it might take up to a month or a month and a half to get Boona from Taiwan. She told me it depended on when they could pair a passenger with the dog. Before I knew it she called me telling me Boona could come as soon as within a week. Boona arrived as planned in San Francisco and my wife and I were able to pick her up without a single hitch since Nikki had given us very good instructions.

We changed Boona's name to Maisey and she has been with us a little over two months. Everything that was included in the profile was accurate. Maisey has met every criteria we needed in order to make the adoption a success. Maisey arrived healthy from Taiwan and well cared for with a complete health record.

I really appreciated the time Nikki spent with me to make sure all of my questions were answered before Maisey's arrival. Nikki was very supportive once Maisey came to us. I highly encourage anyone who is looking to adopt a good dog to strongly consider ARSI.
